I only picked up this book because it was set in the Pacific Northwest, and I’m a sucker for that. Overall I enjoyed it, not my favorite but worth the read. It’s not really a book to read drunk though, you need a clear head to deal with the writing style.
On another note, Mamba might be my new favorite beer. Gilgamesh has been killing it lately, the brewery is really cool too.
Actual happiness always looks pretty squalid in comparison with the over-compensations for misery. And, of course, stability isn’t nearly so spectacular as instability. And being contented has none of the glamour of a good fight against misfortune, none of the picturesqueness of a struggle with temptation, or a fatal overthrow by passion or doubt. Happiness is never grand.
